Gimnazjum in Łęczyca is situated in an old building from the first half of 20th century at Szkolna Street.
Our school is attended by 600 students from the town and surrounding villages. There are 30 well equipped classrooms at students’ disposal, including two IT classrooms with an internet access, a gym (a new one is being built), a canteen (over 200 students eat their dinner there).
Each student studies at least one foreign language: English, French or German. They can practice their language skills during visiting their colleagues in different countries (France, Germany).
Our students have also an opportunity to get European Computer Driving Licence - ECDL.
Pedagogical staff (52 teachers) have high qualifications, many teachers have a diploma to teach different subjects. So far, twenty teachers have obtained the highest degree of promotion – a fully-qualified teacher.
Gimnazjum in Łęczyca offers a wide range of additional classes during which students develop their interests and prepare to contests, quizzes and tournaments. Students may attend School Sports Club, dance in cheerleaders’ team, gain knowledge about European Union during European Club meetings, actively participate in walking tours organised by School Club “Łaziki” together with Polish Tourist Country-Lovers Association. Journalists’ Club edit a school newspaper “Gimluz”. We also pay attention to ecology and environment protection during meetings of ecological club. Moreover, students can improve their reciting, theatrical, literary, artistic, mathematical-IT and chemical skills.
Our students have achieved many important successes for the last few years. They won District Artistic Confrontations of School four times. There are two prizemen of Provincial History contests and finalists of Russian and geography contest. Students who study French gained the first prize in the contest of French poetry.
Four of our students were chosen Members of Parliament on the International Children’s Day.
Our students have got many opportunities to develop their sports interests. They practise athletics, basketball, volleyball, football and hockey. Students participate in different sports contests and achieve many successes individually or in a team. Particular successes belong to our athletes who are one of the best championships for youngsters in Poland.
A great role in school life plays also the school government and school voluntary service. Every year there are many events and contests, for example the day of self government when students organize activities or St. Andrew’s day when famous Polish sportsmen are invited. Gimnazjum organizes many contests and invites students from different schools to participate in Mathematical-Biological contest or Language Theatre Contest. Students can compare their knowledge and skills.
We try to notice and emphasize important for us issues. Therefore, we organized many spectacular events like the Week of Health, European Week in Gimnazjum, the Day of Earth with ecological happening.
In the school year 2006/2007 we started cooperation with schools in Portugal, Sweden and Spain and together work on project “My region in Europe” as a part of Socrates-Comenius programme.
On 2nd June 2006 our school was given a name of John Paul II. We belong to the family of schools that have the name of John Paul II.
If you like our activity, we invite you to cooperate.
